The National Curriculum states that music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity.
At Shepherdswell Academy our Music Curriculum intends to inspire creativity, self-expression and encourages our children on their musical journeys as well as giving them opportunities to connect with others. We value music because it is a powerful and unique form of communication that can change and impact the way children feel and think.
We aim for the children to become confident, reflective musicians by listening and responding to different musical styles, finding their voices as singers, performers and as composers.
We believe that teaching music helps the body and the mind to work together. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop their musical potential and we aim to nurture and encourage musical development across the school.
