Computing
At Shepherdswell Academy, we believe that computing should be a fundamental part of our pupils’ education because it is an integral part of the world around them and essential to everyday life. Through knowledge of using of a wide range of technology and programmes we will equip children with versatile skills that can be adapted to future developments to be active participants in a rapidly changing digital world.
Our computing curriculum will:
• Create responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology
• Enable children to become digitally literate through the use of different programmes and technologies
• Teach children the importance of keeping safe in a digital world
• Promote respectful online behaviour
• Build skills to enhance learning in other subjects
• Develop enquiry and investigative skills
• Encourage creativity
• Increase ability to analytically solve problems
• Enhance ability to express themselves
• Expand knowledge of computational language
• Enable pupils to use, create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content
• Recognise digital uses of technology in the wider world
